Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Toro (brand new)

Origin: Honduras (Plasencia) Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra-Seed (10 years aged) Binder: Honduran & Nicaraguan (dual-binder) Filler: Nicaraguan & Dominican

Celebrating twenty years of The Edge line of cigars by Rocky Patel

Rocky Patel is no stranger to the cigar world; I used to import the Indian Tabac cigars which he helped to finance in 1996. He transitioned from silent partner to take full control of the business, renaming it Rocky Patel Premium Cigars in 2002... at the same time he launched The Edge line of premium cigars!

The wrapper on this cigar is more like a maduro than a Sumatra; definitely spent more time in the sun than a normal Sumatra would anyway.

Am smoking the first one now, WOW!

Strong start, bucketloads of flavour - definitely have a decent dinner before tackling this cigar; wonderful blend!

Muga SP1014 Love N' Passion Toro (new)

Origin: Dominican Republic (Tabacalera Jurarip) Wrapper: Corojo-seed from the Penuela region (aged 3 years) Binder: Corojo-seed from the Navarette region (aged 3 years) Filler: Corojo-seed viso from the La Atravesada region in Navarrette (aged 4 years) and medio tiempo from west of Mao in Piloto (aged for 5 years)

This is a cigar I had seen lots of social-media coverage of and one I had wanted to try for a long time; interestingly I found out it is a re-release of a 1992 frontmark.

Now produced by Sanjay Patel of Sanj's Smoke Shop (New Jersey) these are blended by Francisco "Chico" Rivas from Tabacalera Jurarip in the Dominican Republic.

A Dominican puro and all use Corojo-seed tobaccos; this has fast become one of my favourite cigars.

Caldwell Lost & Found Instant Classic OG

Origin: Dominican Republic Wrapper: Habano Vuelta Abajo Binder: Indonesian Filler: Dominican Republic

This is the OG of the Caldwell Lost & Found Instant Classic; the cigar that gave birth to what is now quite a cool range of products discovered in the back of aging rooms from all around Central America.

Rolled in 2018, these are very well aged; smooth and medium-bodied.

Crowned Heads Blood Medicine Robusto (USA event-only)

Origin: Nicaragua (Tabacalera Pichardo) Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Nicaraguan

This is a re-release (in name largely) by Crowned Heads; the original was a very limited release and were made at My Fahter Cigars in 2015 (and back then it was originally going to be called Snake Oil).

Now back as a USA event-only cigar; and what a cigar!

Well, I have smoked lots of these and thankfully have plenty stashed away too.

Wonderful medium-bodied cigar with loads of complexicity; not sure why they are holding back on it as an event-only stick, guessing they have limited raw material to make a full production line of it.

Like always, I am probably overdue to smoke another one actually!

‘Blood Medicine’ takes its name from a three-story building located on the corner of Broadway and 4th Avenue in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. That building was originally built as a three-floor pharmacy in 1872 before being converted into a hotel in 1892. The hotel operated until the 1980’s, and in 1988 the building would be purchased and re-opened as Merchants Restaurant. Nashville’s music scene would attract some legendary musicians to stay at The Merchants Hotel over the years, including Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline. There are rumors that the building also served as a brothel and a casino over the years. While many legendary tales exist about the historic building, including legends of Civil War ghosts that still wander the halls, evidence of the original pharmacy still exists. On the painted words, “Blood Medicine,” remains still visible. Blood Medicine pays homage to the history of Crowned Heads’ home city of Nashville with a unique smoking experience.

HVC Selección No. 1 Maduro Poderosos Toro

Origin: Nicaragua (Fábrica de Tabacos HVC S.A.) Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Maduro Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Nicaraguan

A wonderful medium-bodied maduro; sweet, spicey, peppery and earthy.

The dark Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper is over a Nicaraguan binder and filler leaves from Jalapa and Esteli. These are two of Nicaragua’s top-tobacco growing regions

The HVC Seleccion No. 1 Maduro is the first cigar produced at the Fábrica de Tabacos HVC S.A., which is owned and operated by Reinier Lorenzo, a superb cigar crafter and brand owner as we all know.
