Alec Bradley Thirty Years Robusto (5" by 52) Provenance: Honduras Factory: Raices Cubanas Wrapper: Honduras (Trojes) Double Binder: Honduras (Jamastran) & Nicaragua (Jalapa) Filler: Nicaragua (Estelí & Jalapa) & Honduran (Jamastran & Trojes) Strength: Medium
To celebrate Alec Bradley's 30th anniversary they turned to their long term partners Raices Cubanas and created the Thirty Years cigar line - which have all sold out (but I've ordered more). This cigar is a great blend, loaded with cedar, earth and baking spices lead the profile of the Alec Bradley Thirty Years, supported by notes of toasted nuts and a subtle natural sweetness. Full-bodied and well-balanced, it delivers a layered smoking experience that reflects the brand’s evolution over time. Created to commemorate three decades of Alec Bradley, this release is designed to reflect the brand's history. The blend features a Honduran Trojes wrapper over a dual binder of Honduran Jamastran and Nicaraguan Jalapa, with fillers from Estelí and Jalapa in Nicaragua alongside Honduran tobaccos from Jamastran and Trojes. Crafted as a milestone cigar, Thirty Years showcases a mature, confident approach to blending that really comes through in the smoke. |
CAO Rare | Select Robusto (5 1/2" by 54) Provenance: Nicaragua Factory: General Cigars/ST Group Wrapper: Honduras (Sungrown) Binder: Honduras Filler: Honduras & Nicaragua Strength: Medium-Full The CAO Rare | Select builds on the existing CAO Gold Label line and beefs up the blend to a medium-to-full-bodied cigar that is handcrafted in Nicaragua. It features a Sun Grown Honduran wrapper, Honduran binder and a blend of aged Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos that is known for offering a creamy yet bold profile with notes of leather, pepper and spices. A pleasant bump in complexity and strength on the two I've enjoyed. |
J.C. Newman Sarzedas Corona (5 1/2" by 43) Provenance: Nicaragua Factory: PENSA (J.C. Newman) Wrapper: Ecuador (Connecticut Shade) Binders: Dominican Republic and Nicaragua Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua Strength: Mild
The re-born Sarzedas is a name unknown to most modern consumers, but if you happened to hail from the USA you could ask your grandpa about it. Sarzedas is a historic J.C. Newman brand that was first rolled out in 1900, according to the U.S. Patent Office. This modern release offers a more contemporary approach, focusing on smooth and approachable flavours. The line features a silky smooth Ecuadorian Shade wrapper over a blend of aromatic Dominican and Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, resulting in a rich, balanced smoke. With branding that evokes the Golden Age of cigars and a timelessly sweet flavour profile, this cigar is truly a piece of history. And yes, it does have a sweetened cap, sorry chaps. |
Kafie Private Stock 7775 Robusto (5" by 50) Provenance: Dominican Republic Factory: La Aurora Wrapper: Undisclosed Binder: Undisclosed Filler: Undisclosed Strength: Medium+ These actually remind me of an old, vintage Cuban cigar as many of the 200 I got look rather "rustic" in appearance - maybe we didn't care so much about AAA-grade wrapper a decade ago? These were a project rolled over a decade ago by La Aurora (Private Stock 7775) and the buyer never completed the order of 5,000 sticks - so Dr. Gaby Kafie was offered them late last year and he snapped them up. So I snapped up a couple of hundred for New Zealand, naturally! They will go live on the webstore this week, but for now; enjoy one as part of this months PASSIONADOS Selection and let me know your thoughts on them please. |
