Hemingway - April 2024
Each month we receive a selection of the best, hand chosen, cigars delivered to our door via Hemingway. This is what we got this month!
Guáimaro Limited Edition Rothschild (2022)
Origin: Nicaragua (Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A.)
Wrapper: Mexian San Andrés
Binder: Brazilian Arapiraca Castaño
Filler: Dominican & Nicaragua
Another RoMa Craft-created cigar (Nica Sueño) and another Pospiech distributed cigar from this months line-up.
Guáimaro is the nickname Sergio Cuevas gave to Esteban Disla and the name has stuck; now a soft-box pressed cigar.
These have some age on them and that has further rounded-out the flavours of this medium to full bodied cigar.
Pospiech-Espinosa Bangarang Toro (2021)
Origin: Nicaragua (San Lotano Factory)
Wrapper: undisclosed
Binder: undisclosed
Filler: undisclosed
Pospiech the distribution company behind Powstanie and Espinosa is of course Erik Espinosa's cigar brand.
These super-dark cigars were blended by both parties and rolled/aged by A.J. Fernandez's San Lotano cigar factory.
The cigar has aged now for nearly three full years; I smoked a few when they first arrived and they were strong... after three years they've mellowed just a smidge but the flavours have exploded further.
A cigar that will require an evening of quiet contemplation and possible concentration!
Punch Limited Edition Dragon Fire Short Gordo (brand new release)
Origin: Nicaragua (STG EselÃ)
Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican (Piloto Cubano), Nicaraguan & Honduran
Brand new release for you to enjoy; the annual seasonal-release from Punch - this year we have the Dragon Fire in another Chinese take-out styled box.
It has a flat cap, much like RoMa Craft's Neanderthal - best cut with cigar scissor's or a wafer thin cut with your cigar cutter.
Enjoyed one of these as soon as they landed, got almost 2hrs out of the cigar - without touch-ups too.
Quesada 40th Anniversary Toro (2022)
Origin: Dominican Republic (Quesada Cigars S.A.)
Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés
Binder: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaraguan
These cigars were project-blended by the young Master Blenders in honour on Quesada's 40th Anniversary and a move away from Manuel Quesada taking the lead on the blend profile.
Medium bodied, shaggy-footed; these are a great mellow Toro perfect for a movie watch or just chilling with a friend.
We have a few Toro's left and a box of Robusto's also...
RoMa Craft Tobac Intemperance VO 1920 Senator Volstead (new release)
Origin: Nicaragua (Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A.)
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra-Hybrid
Binder: Mexican San Andrés
Filler: Nicaraguan (Condega, Jalapa & Pueblo Nuevo)
This cigar has fast become one of my favourite new releases; loads of flavour, medium-bodied; the perfect first cigar of the night (if you in for a couple).
Actually I've smoked quite a few while working in the evenings too; just a great size; long-burn...
HalfWheel.com even managed to give it a smaking 90-points!
