Each month we receive a selection of the best, hand chosen, cigars delivered to our door via Hemingway. This is what we got this month!
ADVentura Barbarroja's Invasion Robusto
Origin: Dominican Republic (Tabacalera William Ventura) Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Republic
Brand new to us, the ADVentura Barbarroja's Invasion is of course from the William Ventura factory that sadly burnt to the grown a week ago in the heart of the Dominican cigar-making region.
Of course I am smoking one as I write up this emailer - damn tasty it is too; that wonderful bold sweetness from the Mexican San Andres wrapper!
Medium bodied with loads of flavour, a nice closed foot too; I figured I'd get this out into the hands of the HEMINGWAY crew as fast as I can so we can re-order and help them rebuild.
Caldwell Lost & Found Pepper Cream Soda (2015 Vintage)
Origin: Dominican Republic Wrapper: Dominican HVA (Havana Vuelta Abajo) Binder: Dominican Criollo Filler: Dominican Criollo (triple stacked Criollo)
This cigar is so old I couldn't even find how much we paid for it or when we ordered it; but I did eventually find the info.
This if my memory serves me right is the first of the Pepper Cream Soda releases that really got the sub-line from Caldwell's Lost & Found series kicked-off big time.
These cigars were rolled in 2015 in the DR, I had one earlier this afternoon and its damn smooth and tasty!
diesel Sunday Gravy Grappa
Origin: Nicaragua Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Honduran
Another nicely balanced medium-strength stick with deep flavours; this is the fifth release in the diesel Sunday Gravy line - a nice fat Robusto or Short Gordo if you like.
Grappa is an alcoholic beverage: a fragrant, grape-based pomace brandy of Italian origin that contains 35 to 60 percent alcohol by volume. Grappa is made by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes.
HVC 500 Years Anniversary Limited Edition Tesoros
Origin: Nicaragua (Aganorsa) Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa Filler: Nicaraguan Corojo, Corojo '98, Esteli and Jalapa
A fantastic Nicaraguan puro from Havana City Cigars and our friend Reinier celebrating the founding of Havana City, Cuba 500 years ago.
There were only 1,333 boxes produced of this Limited Edition cigar.
Full-bodied, loads of creamy, peppery flavours come through, like Reinier loves (that more classic Cuban taste).
Quesada Oktoberfest 10th Anniversary Das Boot (2021)
Origin: Dominican Republic (Quesada) Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Binder: Dominican Filler: Dominican
Hey I finally sent you a cigar for the correct month!
These were rolled in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of the infamous Oktoberfest line, a cigar I've enjoyed a lot over the past decade.
These medium-bodied cigars are of course designed to pair with beer, brats and great times among friends - I know I'll be enjoying mine with friends on Sunday watching Bathurst!
