Cuba Aliados Toro by E.P. Carrillo
Origin: Dominican Republic (Carrillo’s Tabacalera Alianza) Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra-Seed Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
This is Ernesto's nod to the old Cuba Aliados brand from Puros Indios (Honduras).
The late Rolando Reyes Sr. was an absolute powerhouse of a man back in the earlier days of the modern cigar time; the brands made at Puros Indios just sold; they were solid, affordable and just hit the consumer mark perfectly.
The Oliva Cigar Co. purchased the rights to the brands and have had two tributes to the Cuba Aliados brand made now; this by the Master blender Ernesto-Perez Carrillo of from the Dominican Republic.
The other (Cuba Aliados Original Blend) is made at Fábrica de Puros Aladino at Las Lomas Jamastran in Honduras and blended by Master blender Julio Eiroa or JRE Tobacco.
For me, this was a straight forward Toro, good taste; perfect for watching a movie or chilling in the late afternoon.
Fosforo Toro by Riverside Cigar Lounge (brand new release)
Origin: Nicaragua (Garmendia Cigars Co.) Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Nicaraguan (Condega and Jalapa)
Jeff Mouttet is an old friend of mine, he's even been out to New Zealand with his family and we shared an amazing dinner near Arthurs Pass.
Anyway, he's released an epic new cigar line, Fosforo (Spanish for MATCH which is the name of his cigar lounge).
They are damn tasty and I was surprised to read they weren't made at Nica Sueno (RoMa Craft); because honestly you'd think they were!
Medium plus, good little bit of strength and really enjoyable!

Partagas Anejo Eslpendido
Origin: Dominican Republic (General Cigar Dominica) Wrapper: Cameroon (1998 crop) & USA Connecticut Shade (2013 crop) Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Piloto Cubano & San Andres
Anejo translates to "aged" and this is certainly what General Cigar Co. was aiming for with this perfecto; using two very old wrapper crops (25yrs for the Cameroon and 10 years for the Connecticut Shade) that have been perfectly aged.
This short, fat medium-bodied cigar is just a delight; I must go smoke another one actually!
Saint Luis Rey Carenas Toro
Origin: Hondruas (Flor de Copan factory) Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano Binder: Honduran Filler: Honduran
The Saint Luis Rey Carenas is a tribute cigar brand that was crafted as a homage to the Port of Havana, Cuba, which was called Puerto Carenas during the 16th Century. This famous port not only served as a repair depot or “carenar” for Spanish ships, but it was also where Cuban tobacco left its homeland to be rolled into cigars in Seville, Spain. Back in its day, the port was considered the place where the Old and the New World met.
Ranked #19 of the Top 25 cigars in 2021 (92-points by Cigar Aficionado), I've been holding onto these for a while now and its time to ship them with that extra bit of love and age!
Even HalfWheel.com gave this a 91!
Wonderful medium-bodied cigar, probably overdue to smoke another one actually!
Warped Companion de Warped Rothschilde
Origin: Dominican Republic (Tabacalera La Isla factory) Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Maduro Binder: Dominican Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
Some of you will have seen my comment about this cigar the other day - if you need a relatively quick afternoon pick-me-up; this is the stick for you!
Pretty much like guzzling a giant can of energy drink to be fair!
This cigar was Kyle's second Dominican Republic release and like all of Warped cigars, extremely high quality and blending.
A definite medium-plus!
